Stourbridge MP, Margot James, visited the Boro Foundry on 23rd August as part of the 'Made in Britain' campaign. The Boro Foundry, a family owned business at Lye in the West Midlands, has been shortlisted for the Real Business Magazine sponsored 'Made in Britain' Growing Business awards which recognises UK manufacturing industry.
During her visit, Margot James MP met key members of the LMS-Patriot Project - who are building the new Royal British Legion endorsed national memorial engine - 'The Unknown Warrior'.
The Boro Foundry has cast six new driving wheels and other components including frame stretchers and a centre bogie pin for the 'The Unknown Warrior'.
The West Midlands foundry is a specialised manufacturer of castings and machined parts and is well suited for Projects such as the LMS-Patriot Project to manufacture low volume precision engineered components. Other steam projects have also benefitted from the skilled workmanship of the Boro Foundry.
