The LMS-Patriot Project

The Locomotive

Driving Wheelsets

A 6'9" diameter pattern that was used to make two new driving wheels for LMS Jubilee 45699 'Galatea', is being obtained from Tyseley Locomotive Works for use by the LMS-Patriot Project. The Project acknowledges Tyseley Locomotive Works' assistance in making this pattern available.

An Appeal was launched in Heritage Railway Magazine (no.131, 26th Nov. 09) for £60,000 to raise funds to cast the six new driving wheels. [Click Here] for more information about the Wheels Appeal.

Although different driving wheel patterns were used by the LMS, the type used for the Jubilee Class would have been the same pattern used on the later Patriots and as such is the correct pattern for the Patriot new build.
