Wheels Appeal Launched in Heritage Railway Magazine
An Appeal was launched in Heritage Railway Magazine (No, 131) published on 26th November 2009, for £60,000 for six new driving wheels for 'The Unknown Warrior'
If this figure can be raised, this will allow the 6 driving wheels to be cast in the latter part of 2010. With agreement now reached with Tyseley Locomotive Works for the use of the 6' 9" wheel pattern that was made for 'Galatea', thanks to Heritage Railway, the LMS-Patriot Project is eager to raise the funds needed to enable the driving wheels to be cast.
The LMS-Patriot Project invites Heritage Railway readers, and all steam enthusiats to join the Appeal to enable the 6 new driving wheels to be cast for 45551 'The Unknown Warrior'. Monthly Donations, with a minimum of £5/month can be made to the Project by Standing Order, and single donations of any amount are also welcome.
