PARTNERSHIP WITH EVERARDS BREWERY by Pete Sikes

Back in December last year the office passed on an email that had been sent by Claire Cannell of Everards Brewery asking if we would be interested in talking to them about our Project. Myself and Andy Collinson were only too happy to meet with Claire over a pint at a local Everards pub in Leicestershire – hard work, but someone’s got to do it. The message read as follows:

Yesterday, I read Chris Proudfoot’s monthly update on the 82045 web page which was followed by his review of 2017.  This reminded me that I still hadn’t completed my end of 2017 review for the Patriot, so thank you Chris for this timely reminder.

Patriot boiler moves to West Shed as contract is signed

The LMS-Patriot Project is pleased to announce that Heritage Boiler Steam Services Ltd.  (HBSS) has been selected as the new boiler contractor to complete the boiler for 'The Unknown Warrior'.

The company was founded by Andy Wilcock and Rob Adamson, who both left the employment of L&NWR Heritage, our previous boiler contractor, on 24th November and will start work on our boiler in the first week of December. Both partners, who are apprentice served, have between them over 30 years’ experience in boiler repair and construction. Both have worked on the new 'Patriot' boiler during its construction at L&NWR Heritage, and Andy also previously worked for Ian Riley Engineering.

Statement regarding the Royal British Legion and the LMS-Patriot Project

The following statement was read out at the LMS-Patriot Company AGM on 11th November

Our relationship with the Royal British Legion

In 2009, Richard Sant (Company Secretary) and Andrew Laws (Marketing and Publicity Director) had a meeting with the then Royal British Legion Director of Corporate Communications, Stuart Gendall.  He told them that the Legion could not support the Project financially, but endorsed our aims and said that we could use the Legion crest.

We took him at his word and promoted the Project accordingly, including the use of the crest.

We wrote to the Legion earlier this year in order to reaffirm our relationship with them in light of the potential for our involvement in their Armistice Centenary events next year.
