Fundraising 'Patriot' Real Ale Launched

The LMS-Patriot Project is pleased to announce a partnership with Privateer Beers to produce four fundraising real ales. The first of which - ‘Patriot’ is now available, and will be officially launched at the People’s History Museum in Manchester on 3rd May.

Privateer Beers – a flourishing Manchester micro-brewery will also produce three specially brewed ‘Patriot’ themed ales – ‘Illustrious’, ‘The Unknown Warrior’ and ‘Lady Godiva’ for The LMS-Patriot Project. £10 from the sale of each barrel is being donated to The LMS-Patriot Project by Privateer Beers to help build the new Royal British Legion Endorsed National Memorial engine – 'The Unknown Warrior'.

2013 Review - 'The Unknown Warrior' on tour as a rolling chassis

2013 was a momentous year for The LMS-Patriot Project, culminating in the first public appearance of ‘The Unknown Warrior’ away from its Llangollen construction base at The National Memorial Arboretum and then two days later appearing as the centrepiece loco display at the busy two-day Warley National Model Railway Exhibition.

2013 Fundraising Raffle Drawn at Warley

The 2013 Annual Fundraising Raffle was drawn on Sunday 24th November at the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition. The winning tickets were drawn by Warley Chairman, Paul Jones, in front of 'The Unknown Warrior' which was the centrepiece display at Warley.

'The Unknown Warrior' makes its Centrepiece Debut at Warley National Model Railway Exhibition

Another landmark occasion took place when the new steam locomotive 'The Unknown Warrior' was exhibited as the centrepiece locomotive display at the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition at the NEC, Birmingham on the 23rd/24th November. The new 'Patriot' class locomotive had been brought down from its place of construction at Llangollen the previous Wednesday, and visited the National Memorial Arboretum for its first public appearance. After being displayed at the National Memorial Arboretum on the afternoon of 21st November, 'The Unknown Warrior' was taken to the NEC, Birmingham where it was the first exhibit allowed inside Hall 5 at 6am on the Friday set-up day of the Warley show.

The Unknown Warrior makes National Memorial Arboretum visit

The Unknown Warrior made its first public appearance away from its Llangollen construction base when the partially completed locomotive visited the National Memorial Arboretum on Thursday 21st November. The new Patriot was en route to the NEC for the Warley Model Railway Exhibition and stopped by the National Memorial Arboretum near Lichfield, in Staffordshire.
