Engineering Up-date - February 2019

Work on The Unknown Warrior since the last report has concentrated on establishing the true condition of vital components and assemblies.

Tyseley Locomotive Works Open Weekend

The LMS Patriot New Build project will have its sales stall open throughout this weekend at Tyseley Locomotive Works, 670, Warwick Road, Tyseley, Birmingham, B11 2HL

Epping & Ongar Railway Spring Gala, North Weald, Essex

The LMS Patriot New Build project will have its sales stall open at this 3 day event just outside North Weald railway station.

Crewe Diesel Depot Open Day, Crewe, Cheshire

The LMS Patriot New Build Project will have its sales stall open throughout the duration of this event.

Adults over 17 cost £12.50 Children £7.50.

No opening times shown on their web site yet.

Model Railway Exhibition, Dukinfield, Greater Manschester

The LMS Patriot New Build Project will have its stall open throughout this exhibition.

This show takes place at the Astley Sports Centre, yew Tree Lane, Dukinfield, Greater Manschester, SK16 5BL.

I have no other details as not on the internet yet.

Gloucester & Warwickshire Railway, Cotswold Festival of Steam

The LMS Patriot New Build Project will have its sales stall open at Toddington Railway Station yard throughout this event.

Mid Norfolk Railway Summer Gala, Dereham Railway Station

The LMS Patriot Project will have its sales stall open throughout this event at Dereham Railway Station.

Illustrated Talk RCTS West Midlands Branch, Coventry

This talk takes place at the Coventry & North Warwickshire Sports Club, Binley Road, Coventry, CV3 1HB.

Non members and visitors welcome.

February Update

Members will currently be receiving the latest issue of our newsletter The Warrior . This shows that an encouraging amount of work has been possible at Crewe Heritage Centre in the last months, thanks to our volunteers. Meanwhile the first quote to complete the locomotive has now been received and two more are expected shortly.  All being well, we hope to decide where the final build will go (including consideration of completing it ourselves) at the next Board meeting , which is at the end of April.

Latest Appeal - Sponsor a Nut or a Rivet

As the frames of 'The Unknown Warrior' are rapidly coming together at Tyseley Loco Works we now need to purchase new rivets and nuts.

Around 140 Philidas nuts are needed. These are a special type of self-locking nut that use mechanical deformation in their collar to grip the bolt threads. In addition to these, we need around 1000 rivets.
